Here’s a very special semihollow bass. When Windmill created this bass, they were thinging of a bass with a nice natural voice but also versatile enough to cover a lot of ground.
The result is a bass with a unique voice that will find it’s place in acoustic gigs, but is also perfect for any kind of music that demands a lot of dynamics and sensibility.
The bridge comes loaded with piezo elements, so it is easy to get a nice quasi-acoustic sound out of it.
The wood covered humbucker can be split (single/parallel/series), so you get 4 basic sounds. If that’s not enough, then the onboard 3 band Aguilar preamp will allow you to get many more useable tones easily.
Controls are:
Volume
Mids
Bass + treble (stacked)
Balance between magnetic & piezo pickups.
Miniswitch to select coils.
Given its semihollow construction, the bass is really light to hold and balances well.
Light ash has been used for the body, and a nice flamed maple piece has been used for the top. The natural satin finish lets you see the beauty of the woods used, and also allows the bass to have a nice acoustic tone.
Describing a sound with words is never easy, but there are some clichés and accepted references that come in handy. Not so here. You will have to hear it for yourself to learn how it sounds. It won’t disappoint you, believe us!
As you can see, it is a bolt-on. The neck extends until the front pickup, so you get the attack of a bola on and some of the sustain of a neck through.
Hardware is Schaller throughout, so top quality there.
The neck is not ultra thin, but also not too fat, just enough to give you a positive feeling under your hand.
Access to all 24 frets is easy, and the long upper horn balances the bass nicely when using a strap.
There are 4 & & string versions, apart from fretless.
Hardshell case included.
