The RBX series by Yamaha has been a favourite among many players for the last 20 years, particularly those into rock.
My first bass was a Yamaha RBX200 with a split P pickup, and it allowed me to explore the instrument and discover many different techniques.
The RBX series is in great shape and the latest models feature great electronics, comfortable playing and great looks. The 3D headstock gives the instrument a touch of high tech and distinction.

This is model RBXJM2, the second signature bass of John Myung, Dream Theater’s bass player.
The old model had two pickups, but in this case Yamaha and Myung have chosen a Basslines humbucker (Musicman style) plus a Basslines 3 band preamp.
The neck is incredibly comfy for a 6. It is painted, but the satin finish feels very much like natural wood under your fingers.

String spacing si no so wide as in the Yamaha TRB series, so this bass is perfect if you have smaller hands, like to play chords or simply are used to closer string spacing.
Compared to the Jazz orientated TRB series, the RBXJM2 is maybe more powerful and modern sounding.
