This is the Lakland signature Donald "Duck" Dunn model.

Duck Dunn's grooving bass is part of a '60s sound so distinctive that it is referred to as the "Stax Sound" to this day. He's backed Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, and Albert King; he's worked with everyone from Roy Buchanan to Bob Dylan, and Rod Stewart to Muddy Waters and Neil Young. With Booker T. and the M.G.s, Duck recorded bass parts so undeniably funky that they have influenced generations of bassists ever since. Duck is a key member of the Blues Brothers Band, and one of the world's preeminent players.

The Skyline series retains most of the features of the US model, so you get a bass with an amazing value for money.

This bass is designed to offer serious low end rumble and deep tones. Forget about tweeters and slap. It comes with roundwound strings, but we encourage you to try flatwounds on this baby.

Many players back in the 60's and 70's would combine a Precision bass body with a Jazz bass neck (some did it the other way round), which had the effect of keeping the enormous punch that only a Precision Bass with a split pickup can deliver, with the comfort of a slimmer neck.

The split pickup is handwound in Chicago, and it delivers a solid bass tone that can only be descibed as "Pure P Bass". If you ar a working bassplayer, you'll need a good Precision Bass sooner or later, and the Lakland Skyline Donald "Duck" Dunn is one of the best options available today, and for a price that won't break your wallet.

If you prefer a traditional wide P neck, then check out the Bob Glaub model.
