Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass in very good condition and in perfect working order.
A "Made in Japan" exclusive model not designed for export, this particular Aerodyne is unique both visually and sonically, with a PJ pickup configuration, bound body, and Candy Apple Red metallic finish with matching headstock. While most Fender basses that have the PJ pickup configuration use a Precision-style body, this Aerodyne has the sleek looks and comfortable 1 1/2" nut width of the Jazz Bass, providing both the ample thump and heft of a split coil Precision neck pickup and the midrange cut and articulation of a Jazz pickup at the bridge. This bass is well balanced on a strap and easy on the back at 3.95kg.
The maple neck has a medium C shaped profile with comfortable shoulders and a smooth satin finish. On the thick slab rosewood fretboard, the slender vintage-style frets are virtually flawless and play cleanly up the neck. The profile depth measures .875” at the 1st fret and 1.045” at the 12th. The bass conforms to traditional Jazz Bass specifications with a 34" scale and easily navigable 1 1/2" nut width. The matching Candy Apple Red headstock features chrome clover button tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup and a Master Tone control with bright chrome, Strat-style knobs. The finish is officially abbreviated "OCR" for Old Candy Apple Red, designed to be a particularly vintage-correct shade of this classic Fender custom color. Cosmetically, this bass is very clean, with some dings here and there as it has been used for some time.
Pickups were replaced by the EMG Geezer Butler signature set and this was a major improvement.
A gigbag is included.
