Uber-rare 1980 Ibanez Musician MC-980 Bass! Eight-string, Neck through body construction, active electronics - it's all here! Amazing tones out of this one with an easily playable neck. This is a 32" scale model set up with octave paired strings and currently tuned to EADG. Bass features a natural finish koa body, 5 piece maple sandwiched neck-through design, and 24-fret ebony fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. All hardware is original including solid brass bridge and tailpiece. Pickups and electronics are also original to the bass and pots were just cleaned for smooth operation. Ibanez was really hitting it out of the park with the Musician series! 

This bass is in VG/EX overall condition with only a few dings throughout. The frets are excellent with almost no wear. Body has some minor finish respray on the front of the upper horn and there are two small areas touched up near frets 1-3 where the fingerboard joins the neck. Back of the neck is clean and smooth overall - one light bump is shown in photos. A new Ibanez half and half nut (bone and brass, like the original) was just fitted and set up by the professionals at Brothers Music in Wind Gap, PA. A reproduction truss rod cover is currently on the bass. New D'Addario round wound strings were also installed at setup. Bass plays extremely well and turns heads!  

The voice on this instrument is totally unique with the octave strings. The most familiar bass lines come to life and the tonality is quite flexible with the active electronics. Jazz trio? Perfect! Overdriven for a Manowar cover band? Sure! Secret weapon for your next recording? Absolutely! The possibilities are endless.
