Great news: in our rentless search for a quality affordable double bass, we have found the wonderful Corina SB200. It is perfect as a practice instrument, but you can also use it for live gigs.

Before we sell them, we take it to our trusted luthier Luis Fernández, who does a wonderful work on these instruments. Luis is also a skilled luthier who was professionally trained in Cremona by the world's best master luthiers. Click on this picture to see his work:

If you have tried some double basses, you'll know that a professional setup is mandatory if you want to use it. Many fingerboards come with a slightly convex (instead of the correct concave) curve, which causes a lot of noises and restricts you from using the whole range of the instrument.

The back and sides are made from selected maple, and the top is a hand carved piece od supruce. The fingerboard is made from hard rosewood. Sure, an enbony board is always preferred, but we have seen some cheap upright basses sporting a piece of low cost ebony, or even painted maple or beech. The nice colour and matt finish give this bass a vintage look that is just nicer to see than a high gloss over orange tint, isn't it?

At Doctorbass.net we offer this bass with several upgrades:

- Just as it comes from the factory, but with our luthier's set up (bridge height, etc.)__ 1300€

- With a height adjustable bridge__ From 150€

- With better strings installed, such as Thomastik, Rotosound (Nylon), D'Addario, etc.__ P.O.A.

- With the woderful The Realist pickup by David Gage installed ____ + 200€

- With the Shadow SH 950 pickup installed ____ + 140€

- With a lightweight affordable hardcase: a true revelation, as this is a great alternative to the low protection of a padded gigbag and the high cost of a professional flight case or fiber case_____ + 295€
