This is one of the new Sadowsky Metroline basses made at the Warwick factory in Markneukirchen, Germany.
After many years producing Metroline basses in Japan, Roger Sadowsky has decided to move production from 2020 to Germany as he was needing a factory that could warranty his trademark quality. We are not surprised that he has chosen Warwick as they are capable of building some of the most perfect instruments in the world.
This new series is 100% Sadowsky. Low weight is achieved by hand picking the body woods. The slightly downsized body makes playing this bass a joy. Necks are perfect too. Of course you get hum cancelling pickups plus the amazing 2 band Sadowsky preamp that has made these some of the best sounding basses in the last 40 years.
This is a really special model: Limited Edition for 2020. Extras include:
- Top quilted maple top (Metroline series never have exotic tops)
- Blue Whale Transparent Satin color. Metroline basses are only available in standard colors so again this is an exclusive extr
- Roasted maple neck
- Only 100 units (4 & 5 string combined). This is #35/100. The whole production is sold out so once this is gone we won't be able to get another one like this.
Two Sadowsky hum cancelling Jazz pickups are placed in 60's location. This works particularly well on the swamp ash body and maple board. The result is the perfect combination of punch, clarity and warmth. Great lows, excellent definition in mids and just the right amount of bite at the high end. The preamp includes the VTC (Vintage Tone Control) which acts as a Passive Tone both in passive and active modes, letting you control the treble and get a more vintage sound. Of course this bass comes with the legendary Sadowsky 2 band boost only EQ and it is just great. It was Roger Sadowsky who installed a 2 band boost only preamp on Marcus Miller's Fender bass in the early 80's, creating what is known today as the "Super Jazz Bass Sound" and this is what you get with your bass.
Of course the low B is as good as usual with Sadowsy: loud and with great definition. What's more, this is one of the few 5 string basses in the market that actually sounds like a 4 string but has an added excellent 5th string. We love it!
To sum up: a bass that plays, sounds and looks just great that will give you years of joy. And of course itis also a true collector's item for a really affordable price.
